How much sunlight is good for health?

My work make me sit for long in a closed room and we close the windows with cotton to stop sunlight. So some time I go for a walk at lunch hour to get sunlight and fresh air. What do you think how much sunlight is necessary for our body. Do you get it enough for you?

@mrki444 Going out in the afternoon in summer is not recommended but in spring we can.

I don't get enough, I know it because my Vitamine D is low. They say 20 minutes every day with exposed arms and legs is enough. Most days I don't get it because of work and other commitments during the sunlight hours.

@ExplorewtMe How can we change, for someone who is working for the most part of the daytime, it's not possible to go out except from short breaks.

@besweet you can't go out that's right but alternative measure van be taken to allow sunlight inside the room.

I am certain I do not get enough sunlight. When a doctor told me I had a vitamin D deficiency, she also said that the majority of people in the UK would find they had the same deficiency. Apart from there being a serious lack of sunshine much of the time, I spend the best part of the day in an enclosed office then go home on a bus. If the sun ever shines, it's usually when I have to be indoors! During the summer, I'll have a wander outside.

Personally, I avoid direct sun rays, as it feels that it directly burns me. I know I am not enough out on fresh air, but I got used to it.

A lot depends on your skin tone and the strength of the sunlight. You need Vitamin D, which you get from sunlight, but you must avoid sunburn which could lead to skin cancer. I go for regular walks, but always wear a hat and long sleeves, whatever the weather.

I got sunburn a couple of months back when we went for a safari walk. The sun can become very harsh sometimes.
