John Lennon was born on October 9, 1940. Before his breakup with the Beatles, he teamed up with Yoko Ono. Together, between 1968-1972, more than a dozen records were produced plus Top 10 singles: Give Peace a Chance, Instant Karma, Imagine and Happy Xmas (War is Over). He had 2 books published in the mid-60s. During his solo career more than 72 million records were sold worldwide. In 2008 Rolling Stone ranked him the 5th-greatest singer of all time. Lennon was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Beatles in 1988 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist in 1994.
