Sturgeon Bay police sergeant Markus Tassoul will simply tell anyone who calls him a hero for saving the life of a man who was trapped inside a burning apartment building on Saturday evening, that he was just doing his duty to serve and protect the community in Wisconsin.
A fire started outside of an apartment building on Saturday evening when the authorities were notified of the fire when someone called 911.
Sturgeon Bay Police Officer Markus Tassoul arrived on the scene when the neighbors of the burning building told him that a man who is unable to leave the building since he is disabled needed to be rescued.
Sergeant Tassoul went to the room where the disabled man was awake but he could not leave the room under his own power.
Sergeant Tassoul was able to grab the disabled man to safety by the time the Sturgeon Fire Department arrived to douse the flames.
Even though the apartment is damaged where it is not suitable to live in at this time, the American Red Cross is coming to assist the fire victims by giving them vouchers to stay in a hotel and receive some clothing until they get back on their feet.
The cause of the fire is being investigated. There is no suspicion of foul play involved.

A cop is never truly off duty from emergencies.

You are correct since there are many horror stories reported on the news about disabled people needing help to escape a house fire.

At least the victims of the apartment fire will have a roof over their heads for a while.
