It is past midnight. Woman´s day today.

Today, later on, we will have big marches in our country and in this occasion the march will be about women. I have never liked Woman´s Day as I think that women should be respected and have the same rights as men all year around. But I confess that I have been lucky all my life. And most women have a very different life than the one I have had. In my country, as in many others, women get paid less when they do the same job man does. In offices and in other places women have been harassed for ages. Still, I have always hoped that changes could come in a more reasonable way. Tomorrow, I wouldn´t go out of my house. And I invited Claudia because she lives nearby. What do you think about Woman´s Day? Meanwhile sleep tight. I´ll go to sleep now. See you tomorrow.

get a good night's sleep. I agree women get the short end of the stick most of the time. It isn't fair. A march can go a long way to bring the world's attention to the situation. Here in the states, I used to hear statements like well the man is the breadwinner, naturally, he should make more... That never made any sense to me. My mother was a single mom and she was the breadwinner, she should have made the same as the men she worked with. Unfortunately, things did not work that way. She stuggled to put food on the table for us.

Your mother, as many other people, deserves a year around reward.

@marguicha She certainly deserved a better than what she got. And I was not an easy child to raise which made things even harder. I did manage to stay out of trouble, mostly. But today looking back I know she did her best, and to me she will always be a saint.

I never liked these "special days". They have become very commercial, companies only care for the profits they can make out of these days. However, I bought flowers for my mom. But we should learn to treat people well the whole year, no matter the gender.

I agree. If people respected each other all the time, there would not be a need of any special day.

@marguicha like Mother Teresa has said: "If everybody would clean their on yard, we would live in a very clean world."

I saw that the theme this year is about equality. This might be the second time I've heard of Woman's Day so I don't give it much thought.

The word equality should apply to many situations and not only only day in the year.

I think much the same as you. There shouldn't be a need for a women's day. If we all enjoyed the same benefits, then there could be a Women's Day and a Men's Day if that is what people wanted.

And I could add many more. Because what we really need is a world that respects everyone every day.

This year the Women's Day is just like an ordinary day for me. Since I will still stay at home because of the coronavirus situation. I will go out to buy food once a week so that it seems to be safer. In the past Women's Day seems to be a big day as women would get flowers from the company or restaurants

You are right. Women should be respected and given same right as men whole year round and not make a show of it for one day. Happy womens' day to you.
