The wheels on the bus go round and round

This evening I thought I would write about another memory of past history. This childhood memory has always brought fond memories to me. I was born and raised in the central part of the State of Florida during late fifties and through the sixtes. I was raised near Sanford, a town, I guess you could say city now, that is not that far, maybe 25 miles,from Orlando. Back then, most children that lived out in the country rode the school bus to school. The same bus took each route two times each morning and afternoon. The older children that were middle to high school age were picked up and dropped off and then the bus came back around to pick up the young students. In two of the places I had lived at, we got on the bus around the start of the bus ride. Athough the bus ride was real long, we didn't care, because of all the fun. After while, as more and more children got on, someone would break out with some little song and everyone would join in. As the bus kept on going soon another song would start and we would do the same thing again. The songs that we were singing were ones like you may have sung on the school playground growing up. After while the bus would be packed, with some having to sit on the edge of the seat. All around you, boys and girls would be ether talking to each other, some girls would have a little string, tied in a circle, trying to make something, while others were doing the clapping hands thing togeather, while doing some type of rhyme. There was something that all us kids waited for to happen. We did this everyday! This was our big moment, for all of us and we could see the rail road tracks. All of us starting sings together, a song we knew as "Flee Fli Flo Vista, trying to sing all the song before the bus driver got to the tracks. When we didn't make it, the song ended in sh.......it, didn't work! I would think technology has probably changed all that now. If the children act on the bus like they do other places, their sitting there looking at their cell phones, watching something on the web. Although, I use all kinds of things that has t do with technology now and a lot of it make life easier. I'm kind of glad we didn't have it back then, because this memory might not of happened!
