Frigga....what?

Friggatriskaidekaphobia is the term used for those who have qualms about Friday the 13th. This day is the most common superstition which is suffered by 17 to 21 million people. The frigga is for Friday, the triskai is for the number 3, the deka means 10, and triskaideca means 13 and, of course, phobia is the fear. (I find it so interesting how segments of words come together to form new ones.) In Italy, they think the number 17 is unlucky due to Latin and the Bible. They feel that Good Friday is lucky. What are your thoughts on this day?

Every Friday the 13th is supposed to be a very lucky day for me. First of all, I was born on a Friday and 13 is one of my lucky numbers.

Great post! I love to learn new, unusual words and their origins. I am not superstitious at all, so this day doesn't seem any different than any other to me.
