Disclaimer: I am no Ayurvedic expert and not giving any treatment advice here I bought this discussion after being in a few comments with a fellow mylotter in another discussion. Well, this is no how to treat or treatment or diet planning talk, but just a general informal talk on how this medical practice works, and what to follow. Ayurveda is an ancient Indian practice of following a set of dietary ways as well as related habits, coupled with medicinal approach for healing. Roughly, in Ayurveda, we classify human body as of three types or Doshas, or a mix of any two or all three : Caf (roughly the same as Cough or sensitive to cough/cold etc) Pitta(Heat) and Vat(Gas/Indigestion related). So a person with a high Pitta dosh needs to be careful when eating foods producing high heat in the body like Walnuts, cinnamon etc. Those with Cough will need to be wary of too cold things like soft drinks. Then there is a concept of Taseer(I do not fully remember how it is spelled but it means nature) Thandi Taseer (Cold nature) Garam Taseer(Hot nature) It applies to food. Normally Hot should not be taken with cold. So no coffee/Tea(Hot) immediately after or before ice cream or Watermelon(cold). If we go deeper, we cannot have some combinations like salty/sweet/sour together So if we follow strictly, Banana shake, Noodles with tea or milk and curd with Pickle are a no no. Some of these rules might seem strict but following these does helps. For e.g - I used to have tea immediately after having noodles and that at times used to give me discomfort. I started having a gap an that helps. Also, avoiding heavy food after 7 P.M is strongly recommended and combinations like plain curd after sunset should also be avoided. Of course, if you want to know more, ask an expert or read some related books.

Ayurveda is an ancient science and we all should be proud of it. Remember when Ayurveda said that papaya leaf juice is good to cure platelets count in dengue, many mocked it. And now we know the truth. Ayurveda actually is two words.... Ayur and veda. So actually it's a science to give you longevity and health.

I have learned about these kinds of Doshas when I was learning Ayurvedic massage and Ayurvedic food more than a decade ago. I forgot all about them as I have not used them besides doing the Ayurvedic massage.
