Some take advantage of others during difficult times to make a buck

I remember many years ago during a summer blackout in NYC, small bottles of water were being sold next to the Staten Island Ferry terminal for $7. That was a heartless thing to do and seems those street sellers cared more about making money than anything else...
I wouldn't be surprised to hear the same kinda thing happening now... The hoarders who bought all that toilet paper and hand sanitizer, etc., not leaving any for the non-hoarders, are probably reselling it for ridiculous amounts of money right now.

Amazon has been blocking gougers; and I just reported someone to Walmart.com who was selling 6 cans of soup for $80. It's shameful.

Wow! How about what JJ posted about bidding for toilet paper on ebay? I get that bidding is how ebay works in general but to know people are bidding on toilet paper is crazy.

@lovebuglena It's nuts. I hope things calm down and people can get toilet paper again!

It's definitely not right. But from the point of making money it makes sense. Higher demand, higher prices, more money to be made.

I think that is why some people are buying some of it to myself. I remember years ago to, they did the same thing when hurricane Hugo hit here. The only difference was before all the selling on the internet and people couldn't order everything online. During this some people were out of lights for over a week, we were one of them. Because of this, if you used a water pump instead of city water, you had to get water from somewhere else, since the water pump is run by electric. Stores knew that there was a high demand for water, food and ice at the time and some where charging very high prices. We also couldn't get it to because, some would tell you they didn't have any ice and would be lying. Come to find out, they had some and was holding it for people they knew. Some people's true self starts to show during times like these!

@lovebuglena Oh yes. our state had to finally put a stop to the gauging and say if they caught anyone doing that they would be fined. They did stop a lot of it after that. Oh yes, them true colors will come out in people everytime! lol

This is crazy! Price gouging should not be allowed, especially in times of crisis. And it is true that people show their true colors in times like there.

@sweetashoney Good thing people stopped doing that. Though I bet not all did.

I'm making a killing right now selling squirts of hand sanitizer! A dollar per squirt. People are lined up a hundred deep to get some! lol
Seriously, though, you are right. People are letting greed stand in the way of doing what is right in times of crisis. Those people should be ashamed of themselves.
By the way, the toilet paper I'm selling is only 25 cents per square. Let me know how much you need.

@lovebuglena I try to be frugal, but sometimes it just takes a lot....

Depends on how many squares hubby uses to wipe his butt...
Doesn't seem like he is frugal with that.

@moffittjc To me it seems like hubby is using way more than he should because a mega roll should not last only a few days. Also, sometimes I go to the bathroom and see a lot of toilet paper in the toilet that apparently didn't flush (though it looks clean).

I thought ebay and amazon had dealt with the greedy sellers, but there are still things on both sites that are beyond greedy.

It's probably hard to deal with that if many are doing it.
