1958 - The Ford Motor Company produced its 50 millionth car. It averages almost a million cars a year.
1968 - General Motors produced its 100 millionth car.
1926 - Jerry Lewis was born. He was an American comedian, actor, singer, filmmaker and humanitarian. He first gained notoriety with the formation of the comedy duo with Dean Martin - Martin & Lewis (1946-1956). After the breakup of the comedy team, Lewis went on as a solo comedian and actor. Some of his movies: The Sad Sack, The Geisha Boy, Visit to a Small Planet, The Bellboy, Cinderfella, The Nutty Professor, Boeing Boeing, Mr. Saturday Night and Max Rose. He is known for hosting The Jerry Lewis MDA (Muscular Distrophy Association) Labor Day Telethon each year. He was able to raise a total of $2.6 billion. He died in 2017.
1941 - Chuck Woolery was born. He is an American game show host, talk show host and musician. He is most remembered for hosting the Love Connection (1983-1994).
