Those numbers are rocketing

And no, I am not talking only about coronavirus! Those numbers are increasing at high speed, but the number of deaths from seasonal flu is rocketing. In the last 48 hours there were around 5000 deaths in the whole world and around 2000 from coronavirus. That is around 7000 deaths in 48 hours from respiratory illnesses. That is huge! I don't want to add to the panic, I am not panicked, but I think that we should be cautious, and not just now, but always. The corona virus pandemic will stop, eventually. But the seasonal flu and other diseases will always be around. Some of the hygienic measures should always be kept! What are your views on this?

I have three nurse friends, and one of them told me the other day that people have a larger chance of dying from the regular flu than the coronavirus. She thinks the media has spread a lot of fear rather than caution.

I agree with your friend. This is why I wanted to point out that regular flu is also an issue. There should always be taken measures to limit the effects of different illnesses.

We don't have many cases of flu here ever since so I am not aware. For now, it is only the corona virus that is my concern.

I think we have more flu cases than corona. And that is the case in the world, too.

@Alexandoy They should inform correctly, every time.

@rappeter13 you are not the only one who is posting about the flu. But the media is focused on the corona virus for now.

I agree! We should always take care of our heath. One good thing would be if everybody stopped smoking. It is not a need.

Millions of people die because of smoking and hundreds of thousands because others smoke. And they don't create a panic because of that.

@kanuck1 It seems that human nature is a tricky one. Unfortunately, it will not get better.

@rappeter13 True, there's no panic about smoking though it causes so many deaths.

I’ve always been cautious and always extra cautious out in public. I get a flu shot every year, and wash and sanitize my hands when out and about. Just stay calm and try not to panic.

I am not panicking. I am just aware that there are many diseases in the world, and that is strange that hygiene measure were not imposed until now. I mean, they should always sanitize supermarkets, restaurants and streets.

@DianneN We must learn a lot from this experience. And not only the ordinary, but the authorities and the people who have a big influence in the world we live in.

@rappeter13 They do keep our stores very clean, but I agree, they could do more. Sometimes it can’t be helped walking into an area where a sick person has coughed or sneezed.

There are certainly large numbers dying from these sorts of illnesses.

And there is no panic created because of them. I am aware that this is a big issue, it affects all of us, but I still believe that it is created on purpose. I don't blame local authorities, but the big guys in the world have really big plans. At least, this is how I see things. And unfortunately, they don't care if and how many people die because of their evil plans.

I am not panicked. What makes me not feel comfortable is the possibility of being taken to quarantine. It would be annoying to be locked up for 14 days with complete strangers.
