My husband went through that last March 6.
He was supposed to have laparoscopic cholecystectomy to remove his gall bladder due to numerous stones and most were big. There were four wound were the surgeon inserted the equipment. The biggest wound located at the upper abdomen where the camera was inserted and the navel area where the gall bladder will pass through.
Apparently, he has umbilical hernia and it was for sure blocking the way for the doctor's equipment to pass through. The surgeon with my permission remove and repair his hernia too.
Fortunately though the health card covered everything. My husband now is now on his road to recovery. And I am glad we made it sooner before the virus scare and quarantine set in.
This was one of the reason I was not around for the past weeks.
I hope you are all doing good despite what is happening now.

Yikes. When I had my gall bladder removed, they did it laparoscopic as well.

That's nice that the hernia was also treated. That is one issue that I am scared of. The older one gets, the more health issues arise. So far I feel young, waheehee, no major health issues for now.
