Another thing we’re having a shortage of in these days are yardsticks. You tape two of ‘em together and put a “stop” sign on the end of it, showing everyone how to practice social distancing. Hope you get a chuckle out of that, as well as this countdown of songs with appropriate titles. Here’s today’s song. #8: I Walk Alone - Marty Robbins You know, back in the less politically-correct days, they called country music “white man’s blues.” Listen to this and you will get an understanding as to why. There wasn’t a whole heck of a lot that Marty Robbins couldn’t do. He had a pure country sound, did two albums of purely western music (including the classic “El Paso,” which became the first song in history to hit #1 with a length of over four minutes [Pink Floyd had to get the idea for long songs from somewhere ]), “pop” sounding songs with Mitch Miller and Ray Coniff producing (shudder....and we had one of those 45s when I was a kid!), and inadvertently giving rock and roll the fuzzy guitar sound (when a fuse blew in Grady Martin’s amp during the recording of “Don’t Worry”). Here, he belts out the blues, country style (which was the title of one of his hits). Barbara Mandrell claimed to be country when country wasn’t cool? Ha, Marty Robbins was social distancing when social distancing wasn’t cool!! I Walk Alone Written by Herbert Walker Recorded by Marty Robbins From I Walk Alone, 1968 Till you return I’ll stay the same, dear (germ free):
#1 country hit in 1968. From the album I Walk Alone (Columbia). Written by Herbert W. Wilson.

I have another way to measure social distancing but it is X rated and too racy for kids your age! How about "You'll Never Walk Alone"?

I can't believe I don't know this but I don't think I've heard it before.

I hope people won’t hoard yardsticks now! Good song choice!
