Ear Ache Update and Self-Quarantine

In a previous post I mentioned an ear ache that I have had to an ear that is particularly sensitive as it is scarred from an ear drum breakage caused by my EX over 30 years ago. I went to the clinic, which was closed, but the pharmacist put me online with a doctor who prescribed antibiotics and told me to come back if it was still bothering me and they would refer me to an ENT. So, I finished the antibiotics but my ear still bothers me now and again. I didn't know what to do. Call my family doctor who is an hour away, or go back to the clinic/pharmacy? I called my doctor's office this morning. The receptionist asked if I would like to speak to the doctor on the phone. I said, "If he'll do that, yes." She said that is the way they are doing most of their appointments, over the phone. Makes sense. So he will call me tomorrow morning, bright and early and we'll go from there. I have been out to the stores, which I shouldn't because I am immune compromised, but I'm still looking for sandwich bread and now running low on other stuff. My daughters are bored being locked up in the house and my younger daughter expressed concern over me going out into the public (sweet girl), so they have gone shopping for me. In the meantime, I am going to get back on the treadmill today in hopes that it will ease my painful sciatica since I can't go for a massage. Hope everyone else is doing well.

Pain in any capacity isn't fun! I still have sciatica, but it's much better now. I hope your ear gets better, very soon:)

I've been feeling this pain in my sciatica for a couple of days and even my pain killers weren't touching it. But I took one an hour ago and the pain is gone so I better take advantage and get on the treadmill before it comes back.

@kobesbuddy I am on Tylenol 3 for my fibromyalgia. Sometimes it eases the pain and sometimes it doesn't. It's frustrating.

@patgalca With sciatica, Ibuprofen didn't help me at all and Extra-strength Tylenol, wouldn't work. Then, one fine day, the Extra-strength Tylenol worked! Crazy? I have no idea why sciatica is very stubborn to treatment.

Wow! You certainly are having a lot of issues. It’s too bad that you have to wait until tomorrow to hear from your doctor - pardon the pun. Hope he can help you.

I'm not worried about waiting one day. It's not terribly painful, it's just THERE and I know it and want it gone. I wish I could go smack my EX across the face and break his ear drum.

I guess I could say I was self-quarantined because I don't go out anywhere anyway.

I went out a couple of times but my younger daughter is concerned as she knows I am immune compromised so she did some errands for me today. I don't go out much myself except for groceries, church and writing group. Well both church and writing group (the library) are closed so really no where to go. Kids are out of work so....

Hope the doctor can help you tomorrow with your earache. I'm also self quarantined more from my age. So far my daughter has been going out to shop but things like bread and milk are getting hard to find.

The girls were limited to one loaf of bread and one carton of milk per customer. I don't know why they didn't do two transactions and get two loaves of bread. They used auto check-out. My older daughter was going to pay for her own stuff but then decided to put it all together... on my card. Can't help out the tiniest bit, can she?

I wonder how effective the call will be. I hope you get relief from the earache. I know how painful those are. I had earaches until I was in fifth grade and still get them occasionally. That's great you're getting back on the treadmill. I hope it won't bother your sciatica. Sometimes, ya just gotta get out of the house.

My doctor said he obviously couldn't say anything without actually looking at the ear. Hearing the details he said to give the antibiotics a little longer (I said it was just a lingering on/off discomfort). He said he couldn't look at it because they are in lock down and not seeing patients. He said if it doesn't get better he will prescribe ear drops. My previous doctor had done this but he couldn't find a record of it on the computer.

@patgalca I'm sorry he's on lockdown and you can't get in to see him. I hope the ear drops work.
