Went to do our taxes yesterday

Went to do our taxes yesterday. At one point the lady told us we are good to go. Before we left I asked her if we are supposed to sign something as I remembered we did last year. She thought about it for a second and realized that we didn't do that yet. Both of us had to do five or six e-signatures. Good thing I asked her or we'd have to come back. Before leaving, I went to the bathroom and hubby went to his car to put away the income tax return. He was called back in because they forgot to make a copy of it. That's why when you go do your taxes you are not supposed to engage in chit chat with the tax preparer, even if it may be related to taxes. I was mostly quiet. It was hubby that kept talking to her. I hope she didn't make any mistakes when she filed our return.

It's better when you can leave your taxes and the preparer can do them uninterrupted.

I always thought that that is what's done. But I guess if the filing is electronic you can't do that as you gotta e-sign everything. Unless I am wrong.

@lovebuglena Yeah, you have to be there to sign.

@LindaOHio I don't know what my parents are gonna do. As far as I know they haven't filed theirs. And since neither of them leaves the house ever now due to the virus, for safety reasons... I have no idea how they will file.

For the last few years, we've done our taxes ourselves. We use Ufile. Our taxes are pretty simple and haven't had any problems.

I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it myself. But it ain't cheap to have a pro do it. We paid $180.

@lovebuglena It's part of the reason we started to do it ourselves. We wanted to save some money. But I do understand not feeling comfortable doing it yourself.

@dodo19 She told us $175. I guess there's tax and/or maybe credit card fee for using card if the total charged was $180.

Some stuff he was asking was related to filing but that should've been done prior to her starting to work on it or after she was done.
