Now I'm Old

I just had a myLotter ask me what Woodstock was. I know for many of you, you are familiar with the largest music festival of the 60s. You even know all the bands and people who played there. You might have been in attendance during that rainy weekend in New York State in August 1969. I wasn't there, and I didn't find out about it until after it was over. I remember some of the news stories about it and how the media of that time thought it was the worst thing to happen to that farm and small town in New York. I was in my teens back then and in no position to go to the festival even if I had known about it. Having someone ask me what Woodstock was, brought me up short and made me realize I'm in the older generation. Young people don't know what took place in the last century. They missed out on the moon landing that same year, just a few weeks before Woodstock. They don't know about hippies and big hair. They even missed bell-bottom trousers, mini skirts, and beehives. It was the Flower Power generation where sex, drugs, and rock and roll were the signs of the times. Free love reigned supreme. If you are old enough to remember Woodstock and the 60s. What is your fondest memory from that era of history? Thanks for reading. Image courtesy of Wikimedia Commons

Interesting although I was still too young to appreciate it. SO my memory of the 1960's was the first time I ever saw a colour television. Nothing at all what televisions are like today! Just think back then they were an absolute rarity in the UK.

My grandparents had a color TV, no one else in the family did. It was rare.

I suppose it was a good job that the Moon landings looked just as good in black and white!

I was only 13 so like you, I wouldn't have been able to go. My fondest memory is just the music. I love all genres of music (except rap) but that era has to be one of my favorites .

I don't like rap either. I'm glad it gives you fond memories.

I'm sometimes surprised that people have no knowledge of this, that or the other that is common knowledge to me. I remember reading about Woodstock and all the stuff that went on there.

It's always surprising to me too. I learned about Woodstock after the fact.

I remember seeing news footage of Woodstock watching TV during that time as a young teenager and few years later of going to some of the Jesus music festivals in the mid 70s.

@just4him The ones I went to were in the mid late 70s I was in my early 20s and really enjoyed them. One was in the Ocala area and another was at 6 Flags Georiga Loved every minute.

We are confronted every day by things reminding us of how old we are.
