40 burglaries in 24 hours

Romania
March 23, 2020 6:16pm CST
I have mentioned here and there that many Romanian citizens are returning to the country, because of the restrictions in Europe. There were tens of thousands of people who have entered Romania in the last few days. And as we suspected, the majority of them are burglars, thieves and burglars. In the residence city of the county I live in, there were at least 40 burglaries in the last 24 hours. People started posting photos of their devastated homes and the stories related to them. I mention that the population is around 120,000 people. I guess the rate is too high. So, it is not enough that there are many problems because of the virus, the burglars have returned home, too. I don't envy the police right now. What would you do if you would find your home devastated by burglars?

Are those habitual burglars or are they stealing because of the lockdown and difficulty of finding food?

They are habitual burglars. They are not willing to work, they just steal, break in and beg. They were spread around Europe, but because of the lockdown, they came home. And now they continue everything here.

@Alexandoy when they were spread in Europe, the cases were not that many. Now, the majority have returned, the number of burglaries have rocketed and there are more to come.

@rappeter13 aw, that is scary since you said they can break in. There are isolated cases here of a break-in that the house owner was harmed.

They have a lot of work, because of the restrictions and people who don't keep them. Additionally, an increased number of burglaries is something they will not really be able to handle.

@mrki444 Yes, but innocent, hard working people suffer because of them. Especially now, in crisis time.

I am worried about that because there have been other burglaries in our street. Here I noticed that internet crime has increased. Some people have too much time at the moment, and they are busy creating new online scams.

@rappeter13 I support that. Many people here get a short prison sentence when they commit that type of crime.

@Porcospino That should teach them a lesson.

I am sick and tired of them. I would introduce heavy punishments for them.

Get the government to do public execution on anyone whom dare to loot, steal or commit burglary.

Why the virus doesn't infect them? It would be doing society a favor

It's horrible. Honestly in my house they would have nothing to take.

I believe you, but they devastate the house and that is enough damage.

@Nevena83 They cannot be always sure. The main thing they look for is not to be caught.

@rappeter13 Yes, but I think thieves enter the house, only where they know ahead that they can take something worthwhile.

That would have been one of my fears too: more burglaries. So far, we haven't had an increase in them, but we'll see.

We expected them. We know what they did in the whole Europe, and now the majority of them returned home. There will be a real havoc, here.

What kind of people are these? Are they ethnic Romanians or gypsies?

The majority are gypsies, but I didn't want to point them out, I just wrote Romanian citizens, not to be called a racist.

@rappeter13 I thought so. It's hard to be a good person and not have prejudices against minorities but it's difficult when it comes to gypsies. The house of a friend of mine in Berlin was burglerised. The police told my friend that they already knew about gangs coming fom the east of Europe. The problem with them is that they come and go. They are always on the move and therefore can't be caught. They wrote down everything that was stolen but it was only for the insurance company. My friend and her family never saw their things again.

@MALUSE I know what they are doing, as there are daily news about them doing this and that all across Europe. I don't know if you have seen any videos or photos from the last days, were there rows of cars. I guess 80-90 percent of the people were you know who. People on facebook said that they should be kept at the boarder, because they will not respect quarantine and they will start stealing and breaking in people homes. They were right. I knew that this will happen. And it happens 35 km away from my town. We also have plenty of them, and they have killed people before and they will again. We were burglerised 3 years ago, too and the police was hand in hand with them, not willing to do anything, despite knowing who they were.

I suppose you have to do all you can to make your home more secure. Make sure there is always someone at home and if you live with someone who has flexible hours you may perhaps alternate your sleeping hours. I know this is tough though.
