Coincidence or is my mum trying to tell me something?

Although getting past Mother's Day - so at least she saw the flowers and was able to eat the chocolates that I sent her in her care home - sadly my mum passed away on Thursday afternoon. My sister received a call from the care home just before lunch on Thursday saying that Mum was at 'the end of life' stage. She'd given up eating and just wasn't herself. At about 4.00 in the afternoon the care home phoned and told her that Mum had passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was 90 but I'd really hoped she'd go on to be 100 and receive acknowledgement from the queen - although, thinking about it, it would probably be from King Charles or maybe King William! However, despite a few tears having received the news I then pondered on her life and how happy she'd been with Dad for almost 50 years and both my sister and I were very well loved by both parents, Somehow though I just can't really get motivated to do anything that takes too much thought so I decided I'd just do a bit of dusting and cleaning around the house - after all it is Spring and time for Spring cleaning! For once, I was making a thorough job of it and, while polishing the wooden mantelpiece I took up all the vases, plants and ornaments to give them a thorough polish. Adam and I took a holiday in Malta back in 1985 just after we'd got engaged and brought back a miniature luzzu - a traditional fishing boat - which we gave to Mum and Dad. Mum kept it in her china cabinet and when my sister and I cleared her house when she went into the care home, I brought the luzzu home with me. This morning, while giving it a thorough polish which I hadn't done for months, I could see there was something inside it. When I looked closer I could see it was a silver chain that my mum bought me after my dad died. I'd been wearing it when I went into hospital having fallen down the stairs and, as I had to have an operation and wasn't allowed to wear jewellery, Adam brought it home and obviously had put it in the luzzu for safe keeping. I'm now wearing it but I do wonder whether Mum led me there. If she did, I just hope she can see me typing this. If she is, then all I can say is, "hope you're up there with Dad now. He's been waiting for you for almost 20 years".

I'm sure it's a sign. I'm really sorry you've lost your mother. Life continues to go on despite the virus. My niece was married yesterday in the middle of a paddock with just three other people there - and her husband of course. lol The upside is that the parents would have saved half a fortune as it was going to be a very big wedding otherwise.

Sorry about your loss, but glad that you found the silver chain. Like you, I wonder if it is a sign?

Since posting this I've done research into a woman called Grace Darling and posted it on MyLot. I couldn't believe that she was born on 24th November - my mum's birthday! So strange ... two things in one day.

So sorry to hear about your mom. You were meant to fond the chain today.

Maybe she wanted you to get well and wear it again
