Lock-down, Shelter in Place, Social Distancing, COVID-19 Virus Part 2

In Fort Lauderdale, Stay home or face arrest Mayor orders is the latest headline. There have been so many rules and orders issued it is almost hard to keep up with or follow them but basically it is staying home--period! Something I am concerned about is that we have 300 senior citizens here and the people who own the community have done nothing about getting all tested BEFORE one gets it and spreads through all the people which is not inconceivable as the first hard hit with 6 deaths is an assisted living facility. They have also done nothing about checking on residents making sure they are okay and, at least, have enough food. Previously Gateway was owned by a church group who were concerned about everything and everyone while this is a profit-making organization and is only interested in the bottom line. It is understandable but at the same time not comforting. We are helping each other but don't have the resources, the money and many, not the transportation, let alone elastic gloves, cleaning supplies or sanitizer. Talking about gloves I don't understand their benefit when you see people in the supermarkets using them for the handles on carts and then touch produce, can goods, meat packages, etc. Oh yes, and touching their faces which I think people are at least becoming aware of how often we do that without realizing it! So we are not only spreading germs to others but possibly to ourselves thinking we are doing do good wearing gloves! And I won't even get into washing hands!! (to be continued--possibly even with a laugh!)

The people who are spreading germs are the ones who think the whole thing is a joke. They are not taking this serious.

I have washed my hands so much they are so dry. I can't imagine I could find masks unless I was a nurse.

Consensus seems to be--now anyway--masks don't help you--it helps the other person!

Staying at home is a way to flatten the curve but lets admit it,now everyone can stay at home. For most is it a luxury.

We had warm weather here today and people took to the streets en masse, it's horrible. People do not follow the rules and thus endanger others.

People here have been pretty good that way now that all the beaches, hotels, bars, etc., and all the Spring Breakers and tourists have left!

It would be great if there were enough tests and supplies to go around, but we continually hear there is not. The complication of having one family member test positive while the others do not makes me wonder: Will they eventually remove people from their homes or just insist all stay sheltered in place b/c one is sick? Guess we will know soon enough.

The virus sticks to surfaces including gloves and lives longest on plastic.

Touching the handle with gloves and then touching the products with the same gloves can contaminate the product in turn.

People should have things delivered--most grocery stores are not charging for deliveries now and there is less of a chance of getting the virus that way!
