Yesterday the news broke out that there are 22 cases of corona virus in our town. They suspected that the contamination happened in the wet market where it is usually crowded. Now there is a checkpoint in the market entrance - temperature check, alcohol for the hands and spraying on the whole body. That checkpoint caused a long delay for people to enter much more that the number of people inside the market is controlled so there is a waiting time.

State wide cases 106 with 2 community based as of last evening news. State quarantined 14 days any visitors and retuning home, at home quarantined. Most everything closed. We can shop for groceries, go doctor & dentist and gas station and hair salon opened.

That 108 is still a small number that Hawaii should be on the lockdown now.

@oahuwriter is it strict there that you can be arrested when you go out without permission? Here there is a new rule that we need the quarantine pass when we go out.

All markets are closed here, they are not safe places. And checking the temperature gives a wrong feeling of security for a disease where half of contaminated people are asymptomatic.

@Alexandoy And if it is one of the shopkeepers he may contaminate more than the average 3. Some people have contaminated up to 200 persons in Europe.

@topffer you are right. Just 1 carrier can contaminate a good number. I agree with the strict measure they are implementing in the market even if it causes inconvenience. I just hope that it is effective to stop the cases of contamination.

I agree with the temperature that it is not an accurate measure for contamination. There are patients that are called asymptomatic which means they are already infected but does not show any symptom like cough or fever.

It is better to wait than to feel sorry.

@rappeter13 right now I am trying to analyze the situation here particularly the food store. When to buy? I don't believe that the line is too long all day.

But the waiting is too much sometimes. Being in line for an hour is exasperating.

That is a lot for a town. I hope that the amount of cases will drop eventually.

The market place is the suspected place of contamination so they are very strict now.

It is really difficult for authorities to stop the spread despite all the measures being taken.

The CNN interview today of a certain Dr. Fauci said mass testing is now imperative. It is like testing 100,000 people to determine the actual contamination.

@JudyEv but the problem is the testing kit that is expensive and not readily available. In the news today, China had donated 20,000 testing kits to our country but the health department chief said they do not want to use it because it is only 40% accurate.

@Alexandoy The true figures can't be at all accurate until more are tested.

The patients are already in the hospital. The problem is the contamination that they had made. We do not know how many and who they are.

We only have 11 confirmed cases in our city 4 recovered and still zero in our " barangay" Don't you think they should temporarily lock that place down first for sanitizing?

I think they sanitized the entire market over the night. Saturday morning was the start of the checkpoint.

You are right but it is really a disaster here because so many were not able to enter the market. I was one of those who left without entering because I have no 2 hours to spare.

Big stores are taking few people in at a time here. For New York an idea like thisil might be a big help.they have blue swuares st some stores to show people where to stand.

Same here all stores with a shopping area are controlling the number of shoppers inside. That causes the line to the entrance to be kilometric.

We have more than 20 confirmed cases here in our area and over 300 PUIs and PUMs

When the mass testing is implemented all those PUM and PUI will not be quarantined anymore because they can be determined if they are infected or not.
