Why are Lottery tickets still being sold.?.

At a time when many shops will not take cash, and you cannot pass your loyalty card to a shop assistant, I am wondering why the National Lottery is still even taking place. Buying a lottery ticket is a very hands on experience. You hand over the piece of paper with your numbers on, the shop assistant will hand you a lottery ticket. If you are lucky enough to win a prize, you than have to hand the ticket over to the assistant to get your money. Surely this is another way germs are spread.

Maybe your government is more sensible than ours is at the moment.

@lazydaizee my guess and opinion is , the more people are used to freedom the more it would be difficult for government and politicians to control them for fear of antagonizing, again it's just my personal opinion.

@louievill Sometimes I think our government are soft because they do not want to lose voters in the future.

I have no idea why. Well, just wash your hands with soap when you buy a lottery ticket. Have a nice day.

I seem to be washing my hands after doing anything these days. I wonder if we will all become paranoid about germs in the future.

@thelme55 The trouble we have now is that the skin on our hands is becoming dry due to so much washing. Now we will need to buy more hand cream.

It's definitely not very safe to be buying tickets in this way.

That is what I thought because it involves a lot of hand contact.

It is important, but why risk spreading germs in this way?

I suppose that the lotteries keep going because they can and people still want to chance their money in the hope of winning. A lot of lottery business is done online, anyway, so no physical contact is needed. Handling cash is certainly to be discouraged these days and many shops do it reluctantly if at all: most prefer a card transaction. Handling the play slip is no more risky than any other shopping that one has to do, of course.

Some shops are not even giving out receipts for shopping now unless you ask for one.

Yes that is a very good way germs can spread. People are not at their senses. And anyways, who would buy one in a time like this? Well,we may never know but my answer is a No.

You would think that people should be more cautious at a time like this.

It is good for those who are lucky enough to win, but it is still a way that germs can be spread and this is why I am wondering why it is still allowed.
