Spain is singing "I will survive" from balconies.

There is a song that began by being in Spanish but later was sung by Gloria Gaynor in English. The people in Spain have made it a sort of hymn and they sing it from their balconies. It is another way of being optimistic in a place where the infected are too many. Two of my grandsons are in Sevilla and Felipe says they have food and are not going out. My worry is just how long this will last.

It could last till May 1st here they are already saying its all going further than the 15th so with the holidays which are really not this year it will go into May the 1st and then May 2nd. Resistiré is what they are singing around here with the clapping for all the people who are overloaded with work to try and keep going. There is un Polígono Industrial near to us and someone is still working there as I could hear the loudspeakers going off early this morning.

I always liked this song. But now this is specially appropriate. I have heard some people still working here. But my psychologist daughter was laid off 2 days ago.

@marguicha I am playing the song right now because it rings so true for most of us here. Madrid is terribly affected apart from a load of small villages that merged into bigger ones over time it has been able to get a stronghold there specially. I am applauding through the window as we do not have balconies here at all but just the same we are doing this. In Navarra the lockdown was about a week before all the rest because of a lady from Navarra that was in la U.C.I. for various weeks very ill. She made it through but before that she had been in contact with some others it seems. Would to goodness this would end its truly a ghost town it has been for weeks now although we are more used to it not that we want to be.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I play it once every day. Part of my city is in quarantine. And although my neighborhood is no, I have not gone out for 17 days.

@DianneN Me too. I´ll probably shed 4 or 5 pounds I have been trying to lose for some years. But that is more the result of not having Leticia around, pampering me with nice things to eat.

@marguicha We are still eating well. My kids are, too. I just have to be careful not to eat too much.

Keeping spirits up at these times is very important. It's good your nephews are taking this seriously.

I am especially sad for Italy and Spain. I hope that efforts at social distancing here keep it from getting that bad. If it does I hope we show the same spirit as they do. They have my admiration.
