Lock-down, Isolation, Covid-19 Part 3

I know there is a shortage of tests but I would think ALL people who would be vulnerable regarding catching COVID-19 would get tested now by which time they should have enough tests and then after others would be tested! An example, we have 300 seniors here all with ailments and if one gets it there would be panic and deaths which, probably, could have been prevented!
I am at high risk being old, having COPD, lung disease, heart disease Afib and an aorta valve replacement but still not eligible to get the test. By the time I am eligible it would probably be too late as it would be for many here. (And I want to be here for my 25th Birthday!)
We know the rules: stay home--avoid contact with other people--get adequate sleep--wash hands often--dry hands with clean towel--avoid touching face--cover mouth and/or nose when coughing and sneezing--call doctors before keeping appointments.
Also, something I have seen happening here, get your mail from your mailbox and leave! Don’t stand there going through your junk mail or talking to the mail person or a neighbor. There are others who want to get their mail and don’t want to break the 6-foot rule!
Stay safe and don’t give your residents the COVID-19 virus!

Too many people are too dependent on others and don't know how to be alone without being lonely!

@CarolDM For years I have told people here that being alone does not mean being lonely!

I have done what I have to do to have a good life and that is still what I am doing. I have control of my life and health and I am going to continue doing that!

Having to wait until you have symptoms could prove to be fatal for some. My brother has diabetes, heart disease and asthma. I worry about him every day while he is at work. He is considered an essential employee so he has to go to work. The good thing is the office is closed so he does not have to come into contact with the residents.

@GreatMartin I know and it really breaks my heart. Hopefully, most of these people don't come in contact with others.

@simone10 Which only makes it harder for a lonely person!

In most cases here the test will be too late--we have a lot of people in their 80s and few in their 90s who are fragile as it is!

How are you not eligible for testing? You fit every possible description of the high-risk category?

I have NO symptoms--I have to wait for those to get tested!!! Then I can go to the hospital and not get a ventilator or oxygen (now that they are short of that) and die!! But I have news for them I am staying around to celebrate my 25th Leap year birthday in 2036!

@GreatMartin Over the past week, I have had all the symptoms, with the exception of a fever, so because I don't have a fever, they won't test me. My doctor says it's just bad allergies. I sure hope he's right. I was talking with my daughter yesterday, and I told her that if we're going to catch this virus, it's better to catch it now while we still have room at our local hospitals, and while ventilators are still available. I would hate to catch it later when our hospitals have no space and no medical supplies.

I just noticed the manager posted a sign about the situation and asked people to not go to the mailboxes until the mail person has left the premises!

@GreatMartin That’s common sense, but covidiots need reminders.

@DianneN I understand some are lonely, afraid but that's what telephones are for! And then when we ask the office for a telephone number for someone we haven't seen or heard we get "Can't give you that--it is a privacy matter" ARGH!!!

We want you to be here for your 25th too! Some people may have no symptoms at all yet are carriers . . . so everyone has to be careful not to spread - especially to those who may be extra vulnerable. Everyone has to do their part! Be careful out there . . . stay safe!

@GreatMartin We are lucky we can occupy ourselves and be fine with it. Some people can't stand that - I have friends like that too.

Luckily I enjoy my own company whereas many people go crazy being alone for an hour! (I have 2 friends like that and this whole thing is driving them completely nuts!)

Stay safe, we will all pull out of this together
people should continue following what they are told to do until a medical breakthrough is discovered

People don't like to be told what to do (like kids!) even if good for them!

But that would be the sensible thing to do! Remember there are politicians involved!
