It’s hard to believe that this band hasn’t been around for nearly fifty years, and yet their music resonates with the people who grew up on it as well as those who weren’t even alive when John Fogerty’s solo smash Centerfield was released 35 years ago! That’s the mark of a great band, and why Creedence Clearwater Revival is so highly regarded in music. Here’s the next song on my list of favorites by them.
#7: Molina
Not one of their biggest hits (in fact, while it is listed as a single in their discography, it didn’t even chart in the US), but WOW what a song.
“Back then” music styles changed so quickly that people who were wildly popular in 1970 were in the “where are they now” category by 1975. (That’s what makes the staying power of people like Elton John and Linda Ronstadt even more amazing: new music styles came along every year or two!) By the time this song from the 1970 album Pendulum was released in 1972, the band was a fragmented mess and music was moving to other things. That probably explains why it wasn’t a charted hit.
Doesn’t make it any less good a song, though!

The lifespan of CCR was quite short but the lasting impact and influence. Springsteen loves Fogerty. Amazing how many country performers love CCR (which basically means Fogerty). They are Miranda Lambert's favorite rock band and she was thrilled when Fogerty wanted a duet with her.
