Carolina had asked me if I could direct her in a literary workshop. She wants to write " something" but she doesn´t know "what".
I then told her to read the first chapters of Boccaccio´s Decameron. It tells about the Black Death, the bubonic plague as he witnessed it in Florence.
Carolina is working from home so she doesn´t have much time. She had not read much and the only thing she did was to Google (as I had told her) some paintings from that time. She did not understand what the people wore though until I told her that they were masks so that they would not be infected.
I also told her about Albert Camus´ The Pest but she will not have much time or interest for reading. I did discover though about some problems she had that this obligation of staying at home had made worse. For her, solitude was painful. She decided to write about that.
I´ll see if I can help her with this workshop. More than a literary workshop, it will help her get to know herself better.

Carolina can read it. My other grandson, Vicente (16) is reading an unabridged version of Don Quixote. I told him that we could talk about it when he wanted.

I think that is very good for her and it will keep her busy and learning and occupied. I know with my writing on various subjects it helps greatly to keep my mind active and busy and the days just go by. Best of luck to Claudia.

It's nice of you to help her. I'm planning on reading The Plague by Camus after I finish The Stand by Stephen King (about a pandemic).

I wish I have a mentor like you. Good job. And Bubonic plague is very relevant.
