Some Corporate Welfare Needed

Ultimately, what is more important? The business? Or the worker? It may seem controversial to many. But I am going to say that the business is more important than the worker. Why? Think about it. Without the business, there is no need for the worker. The worker works as a direct result of the business that exists, the money that business earns pays their salary, and how well the business does determines how much they get paid, and how many jobs are even available. The government largely made the decision to shutter many businesses due to Covid-19. Therefore, the government needs to step in and provide at least SOME assistance to these businesses— In large part to help the workers. Helping the business has everything to do with helping the average Joe worker. Stimulus checks to the people will help. And it is a great thing. Extending unemployment benefits, paid sick leave, and other options is a good idea in the short term. But nothing is more effective in helping the average citizen as a job is that offers a steady paycheck and other benefits and opportunities. The democrats wanted, during many of the arguments over the Trump administration's stimulus bill, to say that they were focused on the PEOPLE, on the WORKER, and wanted to fight hard to leave the businesses largely out of the bill for assistance. But that does not help the people at all. Nancy Pelosi once called the bonuses companies offered to their employees after the largest tax cut in history was passed crumbs. What's $1200? Crumbs. What's not crumbs? Having a business that is strong and thriving that provides steady, gainful employment to the people. Whatever you think about the supposed greedy, evil corporate America, the reality is that poor people do not start businesses and the guy at the end of the offramp with a cardboard sign do not pay wages. Businesses do. And there is no way around that. We must support businesses if anyone wants to get anything lasting and impactful.

The Democrats thought it was more important to give money to the Kennedy Center, PBS and NPR etc in their pork filled stimulus bill rather than the people and places that really needs. Do registered Democrats and liberal voters understand what was in that bill? A starving destitute family must be thrilled to know PBS is financially healthy.

Unfortunately I do not think registered democrats and liberal voters understand what was in the bill. They simply do not pay attention to any real news. They get it all from places like CNN, and we all know it's not WHAT they report. It's HOW they report. As for funding PBS, and even NPR, I have often wondered the practicality of that. I think both PBS and NPR should be completely donor supported. If the people want it, they'll pay for it in the form of donations. I honestly believe that without government support, neither of these networks might exist.

This is not to say we discount the worker. But the worker does not exist without the business. Another way of looking at it is this very site. What is more important? MyLot? Or those who provide content for MyLot? They are important together. BUT, without MyLot, the content provider has no place to write.

As always, I simply try to keep things in some sort of perspective. There are so many analogies one can make around this. What's more important? The car? Or the gas? Without the gas the car goes nowhere.

The free-market, capitalist system we have in place in America is what built this country, and what has made it great. We are one of the wealthiest, most powerful, and most influential countries in the history of mankind. And was that greatness achieved because our government cut welfare checks to every man and woman to make sure they were taken care of? NO! Our country is great because of all the businesses that were created and grew strong and hired workers who worked hard and helped the businesses grow, who in return rewarded their workers with steady pay, bonuses, and a livelihood. Business is the backbone of this country. It is what makes us great.

I am assuming you meant to say "own." But tell me. Where ELSE are you going to get a paycheck? Granted, I am SURE it is different in Pakistan than it is here in the United States. So, I will give you that.
