Music is so special because it can cheer you up when you feel bad. The Bay Area band Creedence Clearwater Revival were masters of that. Here it is, over 50 years later, and you can sing along with many of these songs on my list of favorites from CCR. Here’s today’s sing-along.
#4: Down on the Corner
And play-along! This one’s pretty easy to play on guitar!
That’s not why it’s ranked so high. It’s a terrific song about the power of music (“Rooster hits the washboard and people just gotta smile”).
Street corner musicians have always been around, and they probably always will. They may or may not make great music, but they make for great songs. (Dire Straits’ “Walk of Life” is also about musicians playing for passersby for change.)
So bring a nickel and tap your feet!
