Rabbi Bolev Kischker was an old man.
Old and battered, as he had lived a hard life, with a meager income, and a large family to feed.
He was 75, and he had retired recently now, from his work as a boot repairer.
A man came to his house though, and asked him for a favour, that is, if he could still repair his boots, as these were his favourite pair of boots, and he would pay the good Rabbi handsomely for his efforts.
The Rabbi readily agreed, and he took the project on. He could not say no. He loved working, working on boots.
Little did he know that on completion of this job, he would die.
He worked hard and long on this man's boots, too hard and long, and after a few days, even a week of this, the job was completed, but so was he.
He stood up from his desk, weary and pleased with himself, but then he fell straight back down again to his seat, dead.
He went straight up to the pearly gates of Heaven, and God said to him,
"Why did you take on that last project?"
The Rabbi said,
"Well boots were made for me to fix, so I fixed them good and proper, if you called me home, then well and good, but I did all that was required of me on that last job."
God said,
"Good answer, my son. Go forwards into this larger bootery in the sky. We also are in sore need here of a craftsman here of your standing, and ability. We are sore here, in more ways than one. Put your best foot forwards here too."
The good Rabbi was really pleased now, he could continue with his trade, even here in Heaven.
Rabbi Bolev Kischker was also pleased that the old boy, God, had a great sense of humour too, it seemed.
The Rabbi also had a dry wit, and he knew that that wit would be welcome here in Heaven too.
He died of love, in his work, for his work. It was really his time to die.
After all, he was needed so sorely in Heaven.

Rabbi Bolev Kischker was welcomed into Heaven by God himself.
It seemed like that God needed his own boots repaired too, as he used them a lot, to boot some people back down to Earth, for another go, at loving.

Thank-you.
I hope my humour will be also taken in that vein by most people, and not labelled as being a bit irreverent.
