A fable: The old lady, and her goose

The old goose knew that it was for the stewpot, and so it went to hide under a shrub, at the rear of the paddock.
The old lady, who owned the paddock, and the goose, came out with her shotgun to try to capture and kill it, as she was having people over for dinner on the next day.
The goose got so hyped up, with fear, that it flew right out of its hiding place, and flying into the old lady, it knocked the poor old lady over.
The gun, firing into the air, hit a passing duck, flying over, that fell down, right next to the old lady then too.
She got up, and she, and her friends, ate the duck instead the next night.
The goose's gander was saved by an unlikely relative dropping by.
We never know when good fortune might drop into our laps.
There is never a need to get into a flap over the way that life is going for you, unless like this goose, your very life depends on it, then getting into a flap might allow another portal to open for you, not there before, if you are lucky.
Everything serves everything.

Sometimes you just miss out on the hot water, by having a cold bath instead.

Thanks for praising my efforts at writing a fable involving animals.
I was thinking of Aesop's fables, which I liked to read, many years ago.
Normally, I waffle on a bit, so this was a bit of a change for me, in my writing.

@innertalks are you a published writer? I was an avid reader of Aesop:)
Do you write your works somewhere else?

It`s a nice story. Short but very touchy.

The goose fought on till the end and got a well deserved reprieve.
It also shows every being is afraid to die and yearn to live another day.
For the duck, the end was sudden rather than long drawn out.
For us too, it is good to leave rather than lingering on but we have to accept what is destined - siva

@Shiva49 Yes, some suffer the pain, because they are still giving love to others.
They care for others, even if it gives themselves great pain.
Yes, some put up with their own pain in order to help others.

@innertalks I too think there will be meaning to the length of our innings given here though it escapes us for now.
Who we meet and who our relatives and neighbors are also could have deeper ramifications that are for now oblivious to us - siva

@innertalks Yes Steve, I heard Swami Vivekananda had told his disciples that his job was done and he would be soon gone about three months before he left this world. And he was not even 40 years old.
I have heard also some who undergo great pain will not be born again in this world as they have seen it all before bidding final adieu - siva

I like fables too.
They usually try to teach us some type of a lesson in them too, in an amusing way.
