HOW do you KEEP your FRIENDS?

Nowadays, it is hard to find true friends in life. It seems like making friends is easier in the past more than now. If my friend is not that loyal to me, I would rather let him or her go. It is the best thing that I could do. What true friends are like to you? How do you treat them? Image Credit: data.whicdn.com

Why is it hard to find true friends *nowadays*? With which time are you comparing the situation? I don't have many friends and I'm not in constant contact with the ones I have. But I know that I can always rely on them and that when we meet, everything is ok and we can go on from where we left the last time we met.

In the past, it easy to trust people and be friends with them. Now, it's hard to find people who have good intentions. I do have close friends and don't see each other that much. We are in the same situation, patching up with them easily despite having time constraints.

I don't think it is difficult to find true friends. And one should not expect every friend to be true to you. It takes time to trust a person and develop a true friendship. This cannot happen overnight.

I do agree that making friends is easy. However, true friends cannot be determined easily.

I think you might be looking at this from the wrong way around, I think it might be better to ask yourself how can I be a true friend. If I decide to be your friend that is my decision it is also my decision how I react when you do something that I don't like. If I decide to let my friend go because he did something I didn't like is that a sign of his disloyalty or mine?

You have a point. All I can say that I can be a good friend to anybody. It can be mutual in giving real friendship.

True friends for me are those who stay with me in my dark and good times.

@shubhu3 At present, they are not here in my life now. They are living across the border. It is only a few friends who are close to me in my country. But I considered my immediate family as my best friend and it second to God.

True friends are those who are loyal and trustworthy to me. We may not see each other often but we are always in each other's thoughts.

I am with you. I lost some of my friends who had immigrated to other countries. They are my trusted friends before, but they had changed for worse.

@thelme55 They put their success in their brains. Money had changed their personas. At some point, they become full of themselves.

@Shavkat that is sad. What happened to them? I still have my childhood friends and we are still connected to each other. We have changed too but not for worse. Most of my bff (Pinays from Germany) now are living in the Philippines for good but we still have contact with each other.

I agree with you. Today due to many reasons, being friends seem to be practical. Namely others treat you as a friend because you are useful. Sad but true.

My friends are like family like sister and brothers I know who I can bare my soul too and who I can not I do not tell everyone what goes on in my house but there are a few I can tell like church members and life long friends who will be there for me.

The best place to find true friends is in church. I like the culture of this when making friends. They can be trusted more.

True friends are people who stand by you in times of trouble and in times of joy
