Before I strip off the jicama's covering, I want it to share this snack of mine. I will do my self-quarantine regime. It is a simple snack with vinegar and sprinkled with a bit of salt. It depends on what country you are in. It is sometimes called "Mexican yam or turnip."
Do you like munching it?
Do you have this in your country?
How do you eat it?

I do like jicama but it's a tropical plant which doesn't grow well here and doesn't travel well, so we rarely if ever see it. I did once see some on our local market (imported from Spain, I believe) and bought it but it didn't taste the same and wasn't as good at the jicama which I had in California.
The best thing about jicama is the texture - crisp and crunchy, rather like Chinese Water Chestnut. It can be eaten as a savory (as you do) with salt and vinegar or with an oil and vinegar salad dressing as part of a salad, or it can be used as a sweet dish with fruit and syrup. Either way is good, i find, since the root itself has little definite flavour of its own.

I hope if you can visit my country. You can have some meals with jicama. Some of our locals used it for spring rolls. It is perfect to mix with the other veggies. I also heard that some places in the USA have them. For young ones, it is the quickest snack with vinegar and sprinkled with salt.

Yes, we have jicamas here, Shavkat. Pretty and I cut them up and dip them into salad dressing. They are delicious!

@Shavkat Well, yes, I could plant them but they wouldn't grow well for me. They need to be in planting zones 10a or 10b here. I live in 6b and 7a growing zones. So my area is way too cold for jicama.
