Did someone eat a bat?

We are listening to the news and at a point I heard that all this COVID-19 was because somebody had eaten a bat in some far part of the world. And they also said that other viruses had to do with people eating am orangutan. I was just watching a documentary about what people smuggled in airports and in a suitcase there were partially dissected and partially rotten monkeys. They were going to be taken to elegant restaurants and fine people would eat them. Do we know what we eat? Is it healthy? Are you aware about your eating uses?

The likelihood that we are eating bat is slim to none.

In the US maybe. But maybe you eat other curious food?

@thislittlepennyearns Would you try bats? Orangutans?

@marguicha It would depend on your definition of curious. There's very little that I won't at least try once.

People like to experiment and use the word exotic as an excuse for eating things not normally accepted.

The very thought of that makes one sick. But I guess people eat anything.

I once went to a bat´s cave but the guide did not let me get inside. They have rabies and you can get it by just breathe there.

That is the theory because bats are a strong contender that carry a type of corona virus. Whether that is true or not I don't know. I don't judge what other countries eat unless it is a threatened or endangered animal or there was abuse that happened before the animal was killed, but people do need to be more careful and take care of the animals they kill because animals carry things that we are obviously not immune to. Sometimes it isn't easy spot because obviously we have had issues with normal meat like beef and poultry, but it is better to just be careful.

@marguicha Yeahh, it isn't great. People need to be more careful with their food because that has been the prime reason for the majority of pandemics.

@marguicha Nobody knows for sure, China never reveals the entire truth. But most think it was from a lab in Wuhan. The germs escaped from a bat supposedly.

I come from a province that people enjoy eating. However, I have never heard or known anybody who will eat the bats here. Even if I haven't seen the bats at all. We eat normal food. If we really need to eat something expensive or special to show off, it is likely to be the seafood.

@marguicha The cow's tongue is also a dish here. In the past China was very poor, we didn't waste the food. So the cow's liver, lungs etc. are also dishes. However, we don't eat something weird food like bats at all.

The monkeys? It seems that they are waiting for a trial and the monkeys were burned. Today I received a notice that my grandson was going to give a concert in quarantine from Sevilla. Do you want me to sent you the link PM when I get it? It is flamenco guitar (Felipe) and voice (his fiancé)

That is actually fake news. The main reason of COVID19 is the dirty marketplace. But there are people who are bat soup which is disgusting. Bats pee themselves all the time!

Many people eat things that others don´t. American cross the borde with Mexico to eat a certain ant and chapulines (a fried cricket). I have eaten Guinea pigs in Perú (delicious) and ostrich meat (expensive but not very good for my taste).
