My holiday travel would have started today....

My husband spent a good amount of his time today coordinating with airlines. Our holiday travel would have started tonight. We made a big one month holiday plan starting today in the month of November. And we did all the booking to avail cheap fares. The holiday plan should have started today and we would have been back to our city on 19th of May after a long one month. Tonight our flight was booked for Thailand and after a week we would have come back to our place for a day. While husband would have stayed back for few days and joined us later on 15th May, I would have travelled to my mom's place and my mom in laws place to spend more than a week with both of them. There were plans to visit so many friends and family during that stay and some special occasions like birthday and engagement ceremony. We all were looking forward to it but virus crisis hit us badly and all got cancelled. My daughters whined and almost cried when this crisis visited and it seemed that we might have to cancel all plans. At that time we could not guess the intensity of the issue. But then we lost track of time in lockdown and only a message from airlines reminded us that today is the day. They are not refunding any money but giving us credit points that we can use within a year time to book air tickets. We had already cancelled the hotel bookings in time and saved our money there. Looking at the situation right now, we won't dare to travel in 2020.Hope we could use the credit next summer. For this summer vacation, we are staying indoors and staying safe. This summer holiday would be one of its kind and I am sure we will have enough to talk about it once the crisis is over. We have kept enough on list to enjoy in this house arrested summer vacation.

Sorry about that cancelled vacation. We also have a trip abroad but it's in October so maybe it can proceed.

@arunima25 to Seoul, South Korea. Yes, we are hoping that the virus episode is over by that time.

@Alexandoy South Korea has very well managed and controlled the crisis. Hopefully by that time things should be in control elsewhere too. Travel will be smooth only if both places are free of the crisis.

@arunima25 We had our first day with no new cases - that's just for our state.

@JudyEv That's a good sign. Hope it continues. We too have got more states declared as Covid free as no new cases have come in ten days. In other states too it is showing improvement. But in three states it still needs to be contained. They are still hotspots.

I know dear. Tours and travels have been worst hit by this virus and for sure they will take longer than other sectors to recover even when the crisis is gone.

Can't say that we are sad but definitely the cancelation was not pleasant. But looking at the intensity of the current crisis, we all can understand the priorities at present. Hopefully we can visit next summer. Once academic year starts, we don't get a long break to go for vacation.

The virus has interfered with our travel plans, too. Before that, it was terrorism.

These are some unseen and unpredictable happenings and we can not complain about it. This virus scenario is quite unprecedented one and has left everyone confused and scared. Everything seems so unsure at present.

US is the worst hit country at present and the virus is spreading like a wild fire there. It is at present the most unsafe country to travel. Even Americans stuck in India refused to go back to US right now when their country arranged for a flight to take them back.

We all hope so. Even if situation comes under control, I feel we all will be a bit cautious for some days. Hopefully in a year we should be able to overcome the fear.

When the virus plagued Latin America and immediately canceled my trip that was in early April to visit Aruba, I have no regrets, I prefer to be home since there will be time to travel.

You are so right. It's all about survival now. And now we realize that so many things that are given so much importance and we worry so much about actually don't matter.
