Working two or more jobs... go or no?!!! Simple question here for the community. Putting it out here as I know that there are those who have two or more jobs or who previously worked two or more jobs. I'm not talking about free lancing, on-line work, or stay at home based jobs or what ever crazy multi-level marketing ploy out there but actual jobs. As in jobs that required you to be at a certain place, let's say an office down south, at a specific time, let's say between 8:00 am to 3:00 pm and then afterwards, you need to be at another office, let's say further up north, at a specific time, 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm working on a different job for a different employer. I would assume one is a full-time job while another is a part-time job or perhaps both are full-time jobs but with very limited and shortened hours. Just want to get an insight on how the hours are like? How pay was like? How your social life was like? Were you able to attend two different office Christmas parties and get the same set of corporate give-away baskets? LOL! You get my drift. Write your experiences, your triumphs, and sorrows as I myself am going crazy and actually looking to see if it is indeed feasible to hold two different jobs here in my country. I read an article the other day about companies being asked to provide something of a shortened work schedule to accommodate the workforce so there is no need to cut out employees and resort to lay-offs. I was close to holding two jobs back when I had a consultancy job handling the social media team of a telecom network. The work was so crazy, I was drinking every night after shift in a nearby bar. I was often there that I was mistaken to be a part owner of the bar. Long story short, the sister of the owner of the bar as me to handle the bar's social media accounts as well. I would have accepted but the work hours in the first job was shifting and I couldn't count on the manager that I was reporting to to give me a fixed schedule. So that was that.

I experienced that. But it lasted only for a month. I worked at two different institutes. I worked from 6am to 5pm then have to rush another institute which was a 20-minute drive away and I worked from 6 to 11pm. My co-workers asked me why I accepted both jobs when I didn't have the need to. Well I have the need to earn money but not that in need. At that time I was just too passionate and I just wanted to work regardless of the pay. But after a month, I became extremely exhausted. I would never do that again.

I have had two jobs in the past, but I didn't work on the same day. I had one homecare job from Monday to 'Friday and on the weekends I worked in another homecare district. At that time I worked 7 days a week, and it was okay for a while, but I don't want to do for a long time.

@Porcospino wow! No days off! That is tiring and challenging. How long were you able to do this?

@hereandthere I usually worked from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. (every day including the weekend) Sometimes I was able to leave before 3 p.m. and a few times I had a double shift at the same place. At first I worked from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m and after a two hour break I worked from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Fortunately there weren't too many of those days.

I have huge respect for those people who work on two jobs just to make ends meet. I see those more in the US? I never had to work two jobs it will be draining for me. But I started working already when I was in college it was part time but I wish i had worked full time at that time because right now i know the value of money and its hard to come by.

I admire people who worked while studying. That is very hard to do - balance work and studies.

i never did, but i think it's better that they're near each other because the travel can be exhausting. or one is weekdays, the other weekend so it's okay if they're quite a distance. i'm glad you don't have to drink every night anymore.

I don't think it will be good for your health since the job here in the Philippines takes almost half of your life.

Wow! That would have exhausted me. I only had two jobs when I graduated college. I taught elementary school and two late afternoon and evenings taught modeling classes. That extra job lasted one year. It wasn’t worth my time.

I believe a person who has motivation and robust physical and mental health can handle extended work. Personally, I cannot do that due to health conditions.

I see. Agree with what you mentioned, health does play an important part if one were to do this.
