Elective surgery back on the agenda for Western Australia

For the second time in three days, Western Australia has reported no new cases of coronavirus. Certain elective surgeries will now be allowed in our private hospitals. This is being welcomed by those hospitals as it will bring in much needed revenue. As might be expected, there is a huge backlog of surgery cases.
The state schools will be reopening on Monday although parents will have the option to keep children at home. Private schools are mostly planning on doing online teaching for the moment. Other restrictions remain in place for the moment. Australia has had another three deaths, all in New South Wales.
Obviously, there have been some unforeseen occurrences due to the ‘stay at home’ campaign. Sales/repair of bikes has gone through the roof as has the sale of musical instruments. However, suppliers are having trouble sourcing product.

I hope that "no new cases" will persist because zero cases means the place has beaten the virus.

@JudyEv just saw the interview with the governor of Florida that he was very upbeat on their method in controlling the new cases. They have a quick response team that when a new patient is identified, they hastily do the contact tracing and also the testing of the suspected carriers. I guess that can result in a zero case soon.

@Alexandoy Hopefully that will work too. Countries need to get on top of the outbreaks.

@17gracemalealea That's wonderful. Have they closed the borders in Lesotho?

Hopefully, numbers will decrease soon. Have you had many cases in your country?

That's great news. Sales of DIY (do-it-yourself) and gardening items have more than doubled as people have more time to do things. We are in lockdown until April 30 and expect that to be extended.

It looks like the US may have reached it's peak in the number of cases, but it's not like that everywhere in the country. Here in Florida, our numbers are still going up. so it may be a little while longer before we start easing all of our restrictions. Our school classes will remain online for the rest of the semester, and so it looks like the kids won't physically go back to school until August.

@JudyEv What time periods does your school year run to and from? Our schools start their year in August, and it continues through and ends in June.

Wow, that's great. I hope it doesn't come back to make people sick. Will people still wear masks as a precaution?

@JudyEv Skip and I are going to probably be wearing masks for a long time. We just had 3 more deaths only 2-3 miles from us, making it 14 deaths so far and many coronavirus cases in the nursing home. That's so sad.

That is great. We are still waiting for cases to slow down here in the US, although some areas have. I am going to have to check the stats for my state. I think we probably have about hit our peak..it was predicted for April 20, but I noticed as of yesterday, they were still rising.
