Friday is Friday, regardless of what’s going on in the world, so happy Friday!!! Georgia allows some stores to reopen at their discretion today, and I’m praying they are successful. This series of songs with “thanks” in the title is in honor of those who’ve kept us relatively comfortable amid all of this. Here’s today’s song, and will you look who’s showing up....
#9: My Thanksgiving - Don Henley
Maybe I should call this the FOL (Friends of Linda) countdown.
Speaking of Ms. Ronstadt, I remember her talking about Don in an interview: she said she called him, and it was a “professional,” business-like phone call. He called back and said, “What was that all about?” And, she reported, “He came over with a bag of figs, and we had a great time.”
No to the figs, yes to Henley’s terrific voice. This song is a little more cheery and upbeat than Henley’s typical cynicism, but this album came out shortly after he got married. So chalk up the relative positive attitude (“I wallowed in the springtime, now I’m welcoming the fall”) to the honeymoon phase.
It’s a beautiful song with a gentle reminder that we should be grateful.

Some of them ain’t no joke:

I'm not familiar with this one. I think Georgia is taking down the restricted sign too soon. We shall see.

Good song choice for this Friday
I'm hoping and praying that Georgia isn't sorry they are opening too soon. I understand the urge to get back to business but personally I think it's too soon.
Anyway a big thanks to all those essential workers !!
