That Time of the Year

Sometimes I wonder if my annual mammogram and my annual bout with bronchitis are tied together. I know they aren't, of course, but they do both seem to show up at the same time. I've been "pinching" in my chest since I returned from Florida in February. That's typical: anytime I leave the allergy nightmare known as the Ohio Valley for purer air, then return, my body gives me what-for because of the change. And, when the springtime comes and the pollen flies, I'm normally having issues. This. Is. Not. A. Good. Time. In. History. To. Have. Bronchitis. Thankfully, it's not a severe case. The Tessalon Perles are keeping the major problem with bronchitis -- the coughing -- at bay. I just hope I don't run out of those little golden nuggets! (In fact, my doctor said that benzonatate is a rather "old" drug [going back to the late 50s], making me wonder why nobody gave it to me for bronchitis before a few years ago!) So, for all of you allergy sufferers out there, I'm with you. I know the regular pain of the pollen wreaking havoc on your nose, throat, and chest. Compound that with this year's added pandemic and we're really in a world of hurt!! Now you know why I wrote allergies on my face mask. The Moron Brothers explain things:

@TheHorse — she got ten years I don’t think she would have had had she not quit smoking. In the end it was a brain aneurysm, not something smoking-related, that took her.

@FourWalls My dad was an expert in that area. I'm glad she was able to quit smoking. Did she live long and prosper?

Does taking bee pollen help with that or would that just make it worse? My buddy used to buy bee pollen and I tried some. Suppose to be great for immune system.

I've been on and off of allergy shots for most of my adult life. I haven't tried the "locally-sourced" honey thing yet. I have an appointment with my allergies later this month, and I'll see what he thinks about it.

@FourWalls This what I found off the internet, not sure if it is related to what you go through. One of the most common uses for bee pollen is the management of seasonal allergies, such as hay fever. It's thought that ingesting pollens will help the body to build resistance to these potential allergens and, in turn, reduce allergy symptoms.

I'm fortunate that my allergies so far only affect my eyes.

Sorry to hear about the bronchitis. And the allergies. Luckily hay fever isn't something I suffer from.

Do you think you have enough of the Tessalon Perles? Do you need to order some now?

I’ll call the office to see if my mammogram is still on and ask if they’ll refill it. It’s a civilian doctor, not the VA, so I should have no trouble.

Our allergies are flaring up, it's our time of the year! Jay and I take turns blowing our noses:( Am I sick? No, not really. For us this happens every spring.
