As most of us know, he was sworn in as our first president on April 30, 1789. He delivered the very first inaugural speech in New York City at Federal Hall. But, did you know that this man had two accurate birthday dates? There has long been this perplexing find when people went to do research on the general.....But, due to the change in use of Julian calendar and the Gregorian one his birthday actually moved from February 11, 1731, to February 22, 1732. George will always rank highest in the U.S. military due to the resolution passed in 1976. This gave him the posthumous appointment of general of ALL military branches in the US. He is the general of all of them and no one can carry that rank but him. Washington loved dogs and fox hunting. He crossbred French hounds with his black and tan ones to create a new breed recognized by the American Kennel Club as the American foxhound. He actually accrued a late fee at the New York Society Library after not returning two books he had checked out. In 2010 the Mount Vernon estate ordered these two books online and sent them into the library.(odd that they were still both available). By this late date, he had a whopping late fee bill of over $300,000.

And he has a state named after him. Shooting right off the top of my head, he’s the only president on a state flag (Washington’s, obviously). Sad to say, if he could see us now, he’d demand a DNA test, thinking he’s not the father of this country.

Funny that they kept tabs on those books for so long. I was actually going to look you up the other day when I saw your name somewhere. It looks like you've not been around as much as you used to be. I completely understand because I run in streaks here myself.
