For those who aren't aware ...maybe from other countries... since the Corona Virus has taken hold, each Thursday evening at 8pm we are encouraged to stand on our doorstep...or safely in the street and clap ( bang saucepans, blow whistles etc )...generally make some noise in order to say a "Thank You" to the NHS staff who are treating people with these awful illness, and risking their lives to do so..... I just wondered if this is something that you do …. Also what are you thoughts on it …. Is it a good thing ? Are we really showing support...or merely making ourselves feel good ? Do you think we should be thanking people for doing their job ? Do you think that the NHS staff are being made to feel that they HAVE to go to work ? ( they have families etc too that they are putting at risk !) * I do not think that there are right or wrong answers here ...just opinions ...but I would be interested in hearing yours ….

We're out in the sticks so we don't. I don't think this is happening here but it might be in the cities. I haven't heard of it.

I had an lengthy conversation with my daughter about this. Yes, she did film a time of clapping and cheering for the NHS and sent me the video. It was heartwarming. For one who has a sister in the frontline, my daughter was teary-eyed clapping for the NHS. Her sister, my other daughter, the doctor, sent us message of how exhausted she was. Besides, we have a few friends with the NHS - some nurses who, we know, have loved ones, too, like parents, who need care. And these nurses are caring for others. One concern is lack of PPE. Yes, the clapping could seem like a useless activity, for the NHS could be very busy to even hear it. But sincerity reverberates in the air, and yes, the frontliners do feel it.

that could be a courage for them also. but of course when doing that, still follow health protocol, using mask. People who did not clap is considered help them also, they can pray and quarantine them self. helping them can be in many ways.
