There went that idea

A few weeks ago I spent hours figuring out how to send in claims to the company that pays our prescriptions. I got this check in the mail today. They won't pay the eight hundred I was hoping for because the rehab pharmacy isn't a participating one. Sort of like out of network. Can you read the check amount? It's a bit blurry. $6.97. whoo hoo. Better than nothing but not worth the time it took to put it together. But at least now we know. I did pay for hospital indemnity and an waiting on the claim for that so I can apply it toward what we still owe to four separate entities when and after my husband's major surgery last fall.

Sorry this happened to you. Out of network and non-participating can be expensive.

It's about a thousand more than our copay for the surgery itself and his stay in ICU. But had it gone through BCBS first then possibly that would have put it in network. I may contact them, BCBS for a separate claim and I'll ask if they can do the pills with the IVs. If not nothing lost for asking.

Yikes! I’m sure you have whopping bills. We make sure our prescriptions and doctors participate in our insurance plans before we use them. I once walked out of an eye doctor’s office when I was told they didn’t participate in our plan.

The problem began in June just after my knee surgery when my employer switched from an in-house app to something being used by other companies that is more mobile friendly. When that happened anyone in short term disability was kicked out of the insurance system by accident. It took me until November to get a person willing to track down the problem and fix it otherwise the insurance would have been processed correctly right away.

I should still try to find out if my BCBS would cover the IV portion of the meds as they did pay a decent portion on the rehab. But I'll need to call them to find out how to do those claims.

Yeah, I tried twice but my hands shake the further away I get from what I'm trying to capture.

Not from them. I have two claims for the indemnity. I've for me and the other for hubby so we'll see how that goes. I may want to find out if out major medical will allow claims in the IV portion of the outside pharmacy bill.

The first thing I ask before we get anything is "is it covered by our insurance" if it isn't I get it somewhere else. When Al had the incident last year here in Florida I would not let him in the emergency room door before I called to make sure they took our insurance. I am sorry that you ended up with large medical bills.

Yikes. Annoying when we need something not covered by our insurance.

Not much, but better than nothing.
