Although smoking is not as popular today as it was in the past, and very few smokers smoke pipes these days, there is a field of collecting that has started around the subject. There are people who like to collect old pipes and other smoking related collectables.
This book shows pictures taken of the author`s own collection of antique Meerschaum pipes. Some of these old pipes are really interesting and are works of art in themselves.

@amitkokiladitya Nothing strange about exploring new places. What sort of places do you go to.

Thank you, I feel lucky to have some of them because many are quite old and now are out of print.

@JudyEv Perhaps some members of your family would like them. Isn`t it weird to think that many of our possessions are going to outlive us. We have just started to buy good quality furniture because we could not afford to when we were younger. We were saying that this furniture will last for more years than we will.

There does seem to be . I go to my local auction and it is surprising what the people will buy and how much they are willing to pay for it.

Yes, it will be interesting for them to understand the history of smoking and how people did it in the past. However, many collectors of smoking ephemera are not smokers themselves.

It is an interesting book and some of the old pipes are really well designed. Most of them must have taken ages to carve and make. The people who designed and made them were real craftsmen.

@Lakshman15 Yes they probably had to serve a long apprenticeship before they could call themselves proper craftsmen.
