Nike doing their part to thank the frontline heroes by giving away sneakers

Nike thanking the first responders by giving away their sneakers

I have to give my respects to the Nike company since they have a goal of giving away at least 140,000 pieces of sneakers, socks and equipment to the first responders around the globe who are risking their lives to battle the Coronavirus. It is nice to see a major corporation that pays a huge amount of money to sports stars to wear their clothing and sneakers at the sporting events to shift their new mission to repay the first responders for their hard work. What I have noticed is that despite the fact that the majority of sports around the world have been put on hold, Nike has found a way to get some good publicity by donating their equipment where it is really needed at this time.

@Hannihar Evildoers do exist in our world since they do not care if they hurt someone.

@Deepizzaguy I do not feel that way about a lot of people. I see the nasty and bullies are worse during this time and could care less to help others.

Corporations should step up and really support our frontliners. Every bit of support helps.

@Deepizzaguy they can afford to support our front liners. They are big businesses. Makes me want to stop supporting those that are asking for bail-outs.

@Deepizzaguy "In 2020, the Nike brand was valued at approximately 34.8 billion U.S. dollars." so them donating what was it, 140,000 shoes? ok, let's look at this: Manufacturing Costs As an example, "in 2014, Nike reported $28.50 as the general cost to manufacture one pair of sneakers and ship them to the United States." So for ease of math going to say 30 bucks. 4,200,000. Ok, so I feel a bit less annoyed, that is more than I thought, but still not tons.

Better for Nike to have someone who is helping others through their job of saving lives since sports are on hold for now.

You are right since they took a severe hit from the public in the wake of the Colin Kaepernick controversy about taking political stands.

You are right since this pandemic has seen a lot of us find out what is really important and assist others in need.
