Nowadays many people do not bother with wearing a watch because these days the majority of people are glued to their phones and they can see what the time is without having to look at their watch. However there was a time when watches were really popular, both as an item of jewellery and as a useful bit of kit.
So this has made watches become an interesting subject for collectors. This book `100 Years of Vintage watches' covers the years 1870 to 1970 . It was written by author and horologist Dean Judy who is an expert in this field and has written other books on this subject.

I still prefer wearing a watch. I turn my phone off and do not use it that much so I can look at my watch when I want to know the time. I would love a book like that because I think vintage watches are great.

Vintage watches are lovely, and an interesting subject for a book. I rarely use my phone to tell the time with, unless one of our old clocks is running a bit slow and then I use it to put the clock right.

That is a good point, I suppose watches were a status symbol , like expensive jewellery and designer clothes.

Another old hobby. The only new watches that will be collectible are Rolex.

Rolex are a good make and many of the old watches sell for huge amounts of cash.

Watches were a luxury, although I could only ever afford cheap ones.

Lots of vintage watches did have gold in them along with other precious metals and gems. Some of them are worth so much money now that the owners would be scared to wear them in case they lost or broke them.

It is an interesting book for watch collectors and people who are interested in this subject. Or for people like me who just like looking at books.
