Shooting Star

I was just on my balcony enjoying the quiet and my first cup of coffee and thinking what could be better. I was looking at a very bright star in the sky when all of a sudden I saw a shooting star. I haven't seen a shooting star since I lived in Vegas. I used to see one all the time there. The one tonight is the first one I've seen since we left Vegas. The odd thing is this one went sideways whereas the ones I saw in Vegas were always going straight down. Anyway, I was very excited to see one this morning. Today has been a week since I started my diet. I was surprised when I got on the scale this morning and I had lost a total of 6 pounds for the week. My daily calories are set at 1350 a day and I was afraid it might be too much but it seems to be working for me. I haven't been very good at exercising because of the pain in my feet but I will try to do better next week. Well, so far my day has started out really exciting. I hope the rest of the day is just as good. I also hope everyone on mylot has a great day as well. **Photo from Pixabay

I saw a shooting star a month or so ago. They are beautiful. I have never seen one falling straight down, usually they are headed sideways in a downward path. I hope that you were able to make a wish on it. You're really doing great on your diet.

@Juliaacv @mrki444 Maybe the ones I saw in Vegas did go sideways a little before going down. In my mind, I always saw them as going straight down

I can't remember when I saw a shooting star but I have seen a comet and it was beautiful.

Oh, I bet that was beautiful! Were you able to take pictures or did it happen too fast?

@simone10 Yes, it was beautiful. I was still a child at that time when I saw the comet. My parents woke me up to see that broom like comet. No photos at that time.

what a lovely sight that star. I have noticed maybe 3 or so in all my years. Guess I am not much at watching the sky

@bunnybon7 So do I. It can get really hot in the summer so you don't do errands until the sun goes down.

I'm not either and this is the first one I've seen since we moved from Vegas. I think the reason I saw them so much in Vegas is that the skies were clear every day, no clouds.

We usually only see the shooting stars during summer here. You are doing good with your diet.

@simone10 I do not know, the sky is always clear here during winter, but there are no shooting stars during winter.

I saw them in Vegas all the time but the skies there were always clear so that might be why.

Did you imagine a wish?people here say that one needs to imagine a wish then. I am always surprised when I see a shooting star, every time as if it were my first. In the month of August we have a night called the 'rain of meteors' and at that night we can see the falling stars non-stop.

@simone10, I remember when in child, I had to sleep on my open terrace, watching all twinkling stars. And those time when everyday I used to see shooting star. Some goes by sideway abd some coming down brught. Since I shifted to city, I miss those freedom to watch open sky in the night.

It's very calming to watch the stars. When one is in the city, all the lights make it hard to see the stars.

@simone10 Exactly! To watch open sky you need dark place like remote village or town where you can enjoy.

That's awesome you saw a shooting star. I haven't seen one since I was a child. Living in the city with all the light pollution, I don't see many stars at night.

I think that's why I haven't seen one here until now. In Vegas, there are rarely any clouds in the sky so it made it easier to see.

It's been a while since I saw one maybe it's because I pay less attention to the sky these days ... In our old time stories we where made to believe that wizards travel on them so when u see one kids would shout at anything hoping a wizard could do something magical.. Well it never happened lol
