Hi friends!
We made it home from South Florida to Southern Connecticut in a mere 18 hours and 24 minutes. We left Florida at 9:20 AM after a safe send off by friends. We arrived home in Connecticut at 3:44 AM.
The traffic was fairly light and no police were out to bother us, so hubs drove faster than he usually does. He felt great and wouldn’t let me drive.
We only needed to stop for gas three times and only make one pit stop to use the restroom.
We left almost everything in the car and went straight to bed, but unpacked on Tuesday morning. It was a beautiful day, but definitely not Florida weather.
Our son had been hiking in our woods and texted that he would arrive to visit. When he arrived, we kept our social distance. We stayed on our deck, while he stood on the lawn. It was so good seeing him in person!
Meanwhile, we are still settling in, catching up on sleep, and are so thankful to be home!

Thanks. I corrected our arrival time. We arrived home at 3:44ish AM on Tuesday.
All but my jewelry is unpacked and put away.
My son also did more grocery shopping for us yesterday and spent time outdoors with us at a safe distance. He’s been so good to us.

@DianneN it’s been a good many years since we drove more then 7 or 8 hours and that can be draining.

Well I'm certainly glad to hear you're home safe and sound. I can't believe you made that trip in record time, I'm sure you're happy to be home and especially seeing your son must have been awesome. How hard was it not to hug him??

@DianneN when will we be able to hug our kids and grandkids??? I miss hugging mine too but my son texted me a picture of himself so I wouldn't forget what he looks like. I was so happy seeing his smiling face I didn't notice how long his hair is

Thanks! We had planned to stop for a rest, but were feeling pumped.
It was very hard not to hug him.
He went shopping for us again yesterday and dropped everything off at the front door, but waited until we came out to walk and talk keeping a safe distance. It hurts real bad not hugging and kissing him, but it’s so good seeing him in person.

Welcome home
(well, to your vacation home
).
I don't blame you - that is an exhausting drive - I would have gone straight to bed as well! And yay that you got to see your son - I'm sure he was relieved that you arrived home safely - just good to be reunited again!

Thank you!
We fell asleep instantly.
Our son did some more shopping for us yesterday and what a pleasure it was to walk outdoors and talk with him at a safe distance.
Both kids kept texting and talking to us on the way home. It helped tremendously! We were just out of Washington D.C. when our son mentioned that we’d be home in a mere 5 hours.

Wow! You made it in one day and your hubs drove the whole way. That is amazing. Love your flowers, are those bleeding hearts? How much land do you have on your property? So glad you're home safe and sound.

Thanks so much! It’s so good to be home.
Yes, we made it home in less than 18 1/2 hours. I offered to drive from Florida up to Washington D.C. because it’s straight and easy, but hubs insisted he felt pumped. lol
Those are bleeding hearts, and I’m happy I got to see them in bloom for a change. We have over 2 acres.

@DianneN We have 1.25 acres but no waterfalls or anything special like that. Nothing behind us, nursery on one side; and the house across the street is set back probably 300 feet (or more).

@DocAndersen They are amazing to watch when they fish. It breaks my heart when they don’t catch a fish after trying to long.

@cherriefic Should be fine by tomorrow.
I think the cleaning and packing, as well as the driving, knocked us out.
