Years ago I started the 52 Week Savings Challenge. Which, I'm sure most are aware of how that works. I still do the challenge, but I have since modified it and just consider it my Christmas Savings. I have altered it to be a savigns of double the week number for the first 26 weeks and then decrease back down towards Christmas. That way my higher amounts are in the summer and not when I am trying to do my Christmas shopping . I start off the Year with week 1 Saving $2, then $4, $6 all the way up to $52. At Week 27 I repeat the previous week of $52 and go down from there each week to $50, $48, $46. I've attached an image with a sample of this year By Doing it this way I put away $1404 for Christmas shopping or Travel. Through out the year if I have extra change o have and $75 monthly are also put it into the jar or savings account to add a surplus savings. My final goal is to have $2304 saved towards Christmas.

Wow. This is a great way to save money, but this is indeed a challenge.

sometimes the challenge is to actually remember to put the money aside!

That is very well thought out. I hope by this next Christmas we are back able to travel. Good discipline to do this.

Past years it has made for a more "debt free" christmas. We still charge presents to the credit card but the savings makes it so i can pay it right away and not accumulate interest.
