I can imagine the joy of dog owner Deb Melser who cried tears of joy after she was contacted by an employee at Wal Mart in Norman Oklahoma last month.
The dog who had been microchipped by his owner was taken inside a Wal Mart store after the dog entered the cart section.
Deb volunteered to scan the dog to see if he had a microchip. When she found out that her dog who was inside the Wal Mart had a microchip, she called the microchip company to contact the current owner of the dog that went missing six years ago.
When the current owner reported her dog missing which was the dog that belonged to Deb, she found out that her dog that went missing six years ago was found safe at a Wal Mart store.
In the words of the late Peter "Yogi" Berra of Major League Baseball fame as a former catcher, coach and manager, "It ain't over till it's over."

I got confused about the owner. Deb is the owner or the previous owner? I got lost.

@Deepizzaguy Deb lost the dog and was taken care of by the next owner. Who saw the dog in Walmart, was it Deb? Okay, now I understand. Thank you for the explanation.

Debs lost her dog six years ago. The previous owner was taking care of the lost dog when the dog was seen at a Walmart. I do not know if the owner who was taking care of the dog allowed the dog to leave her home or was it an accident.

My best guess is that the dog was with a loving family even though the former owner of the dog did not know he was microchipped.

It's long years. It's good to have the microchip

You are right since a microchip is useful for a lost pet to be found by his or her owner.

I also enjoy sharing dog reunion stories since they bring joy to the owner who lost their dear pet for a long period of time.

Usually dogs always prefer their first owners no matter how well they are treated.

You are right since a few dogs that my relatives and myself adopted did exhibit behavior of liking their previous owner.

Debs was depressed when her dog disappeared from her home.
