Good morning. Amid the humidity and rain here (I don’t even have to look outside or open a weather app to see that, my lungs are telling me) it’s time for another song with “house” in the title. If you’re looking for another song by this title, hang on, it’ll be along later. Meanwhile, here’s the one most of you are thinking of with that title.
#8: Our House - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Ooh, is this a pretty song.
There are four distinct elements to the supergroup Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. For my money, Graham Nash is the “pretty song” or ballad songwriter in the band. He wrote “Just a Song Before I Go” (and the album cut “Carried Away”). Oh, he also wrote “Teach Your Children,” so he’s pretty good at anthems, too.
So simple. So eloquent. “I’ll light the fire, while you place the flowers in the vase that you bought today” opens and closes the song. That home love 101.
Add those harmonies, and you have a classic song.
