Promises kept!

This long weekend was one of the best I've ever had. The kids came from SC on Friday and some of us played out in the yard with Saint, their Golden Retriever. The boys rode the Honda (a four wheeler) down the path to the pond where the guys were fishing. I cooked a big pot of venison veggie soup for supper. Everybody just hung around enjoying the outdoors and being together. Yesterday, Saturday, we had a fish fry especially for our daughter Tammy, although we all enjoyed it. Afterwards, we had a little birthday party for my husband. I cooked chocolate pies and a cheesecake instead of a cake, then we opened presents (birthday for him and Mother's Day for me.) That was fun, then our daughter and son looked at some photo albums with my husband and learned some of his family's history. This morning (Sunday) we all drove to church and parked in the lot beside the church. Everyone rolled their windows down and I sang two specials with recorded background CDs. My husband preached the message and of course I thought he did really well. A lot of the people there said he did a good job. His message was about the lost word of God in the house of God, comparing some events in the Old Testament with today's world. When we got home, the ribs were done in the oven, and after I baked potatoes, we added garden salads, deviled eggs, corn, and sweet tea. Everyone was so full and needed a nap, but Tammy and her family had a seven hour trip home. Our son Robert and my husband played golf and now my husband's napping in his recliner. (I took an hour nap while they were gone!) Tammy and I talked about how we'd both prayed that everyone would be feeling well this weekend and that the weather would be nice. God graciously answered both those prayers. She was having some good days and didn't seem to be in a lot of pain which we were so thankful for. She still has to see an eye specialist about her eye and of course the pelvic floor issues and hip injury from that car accident, but at least the Mayo Clinic is working with her local doctors. The only way this weekend could have been better would be if our oldest granddaughter and grandson could have been here. But maybe soon. Anyway, just wanted to let y'all know that the promise of a good weekend was kept! We're so thankful. We got to be with all our babies and we barely mentioned the virus. I guess going several months without being around them made us appreciate this time together even more.

No, not at all. Some states are slowly lifting the shut downs, but others are still in quarantine.

Like all families, we have our small issues at times. But we're very blessed that we truly do like each other.

@1creekgirl true that. Families may not always see eye to eye but family is family.

It sounds like a warm and wonderful weekend for everyone. We cannot embrace as of yet, and need to keep gatherings to no more then 5 people. Hopefully, slow and steady will win this race.

We can't hug or have contact yet, but we hugged our kids and pray we don't regret it. Tomorrow we'll go back to social distancing and masks and gloves. I guess since we were all in cars at church this morning, it didn't hurt that we had a few cars.

So did your husband stand outside your car to preach or was he able to use microphone to be heard in Allie the cars? I didn't realize he is a preacher. Glad your got to spend time with them all. I just dropped off s bag of clothes I will wear when I get to hold out first grandchild for the very first time at six weeks old. My daughter will wash my things and they will stay there in her environment. I will shower before leaving my house, driver there change and then wash exposed areas like face and arms. I will wear my mask while holding the baby and being in their home. I hope to begin this on Friday.

I'm glad you had such a wonderful weekend with your family. I don't know the situation with your daughter, but I'm glad the doctors are all working together.
