Good student with lots of excuses

Do you remember trying to come up with excuses why you didn't have your homework done? I just had a virtual online lesson with one of my really good students. She plays flute well but tends to go off on tangents. Anyway, last time she had asked if she could work on something from Ghibli's movies in addition to the exercise I had given her. I said, "Sure, if you can find the music." She found the music. She played her difficult classical etude and then said, "I can't find my solo music." She had taken a screenshot and then cleared out her "gallery" so it was gone. We spent about 30% of the lesson waiting for her to find it again. Finally she found it, sent it to me, and said, "Well..... I really didn't practice it." I said, "Oh, does that mean you've been stalling all this time?" She laughed and said, "Probably subconsciously, yeah." So we went on and I helped her get started with the next difficult etude in her book.
Fortunately, I know this is not out of ill feeling or trying to avoid work in this student's case... just a case of being highly creative and intelligent and having trouble settling down to one thing!
I know I make excuses sometimes. Do you?

I would much rather be back in my classroom and so would the kids.

My entire school is teaching online. I have all my elementary and middle school music classes and private flute lessons (through the school) online since March 2, when Japan told schools to close for a while. We are in Tokyo and still closed. We plan to stay online through the end of this school year (international school, June 16) because we have so many students who have to travel on trains.

She is distracted because she likes music. She keeps thinking of new musical things she wants to do. I was like that too.
