Mennonite Strawberries

The Mennonites are a conservative Christian organization dating back to the 1500's. There is a community near us, and they are as good neighbors as we could ever want. They are basically sustainable farmers, not using power lines for electricity on their farms.
Using their hand tools and horse powered machinery, that feed themselves and many other people, like us, their neighbors. They also ship produce out of their community to stores where they are widely sold.
This is strawberry season in northern Tennessee. I went over to our nearest Mennonite neighbors this a.m. and got 5 heaping quart containers of strawberries out of the 100 quarts that the family had picked today. Onto the table and into the freezer they go. GREAT eating.

these are indeed great neighbors and very nice people .My daughter in Ohio has Quakers for neighbors and always get not only bargains but gifts and services from them
they are quite similar

I'm not religious in any way but do find the way of life of some Anabaptist groups very interesting.
